An overview
The program is full-time and lasts for 5 years, including two training practices and a pre-graduation internship in a pharmacy. The program includes both theoretical and practical training, with lectures, seminars, practical exercises and self-training. You will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in botany and pharmacognosy during your training practices.
Upon graduation, you will obtain the level of qualification "Master of Science in Pharmacy”.
The program 📊
The medicine program at MU Varna lasts for 5 years. It includes 10 semesters, with two training practices of 6 calendar days each after the 4th and 6th semester, and a pre-graduation internship in a pharmacy after the 9th semester.
During the first two years, you will study basic chemical, physical, biological and medical subjects, including learning the Bulgarian language.
1st year
As a first-year pharmacy student at MU Varna, you will learn about basic science subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, and human anatomy. You will also study statistics to help you understand how to analyse data.
2nd year
In the 2nd year at MU Varna, you will continue to learn about various scientific subjects such as biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, and pharmaceutical botany. You will also delve deeper into pathophysiology.
3rd year
In your 3rd year, you will learn about subjects such as hygiene, pharmaceutical botany, medical genetics, pharmacology, and social pharmacy, among others. This is when you will start to dive deeper into the specific topics related to pharmacy and medicine. You will also receive practical training in pharmacognosy after the third year.
4th year
In the 4th year of the program, you will study advanced topics such as toxicology. It is the study of the harmful effects of chemicals on living organisms. You also study Clinical chemistry, which is the analysis of body fluids to diagnose diseases. Pharmacotherapy will be about the use of medications to treat diseases. In pharmaceutical analysis,you learn about the testing and analysis of drugs to ensure their quality. Pharmacoeconomics, discusses the economic aspects of pharmaceuticals, including their cost-effectiveness and affordability.
5th year
In the fifth and final year of our pharmacy program, you get to delve into some really exciting and advanced topics! You will be learning about cutting-edge fields such as biopharmacy, pharmacotherapy, and clinical pharmacy.
We'll also have the opportunity to study pharmaceutical care and radiopharmacy, These are actually fascinating areas that are constantly evolving.
The program ends with a pre-graduation internship in a pharmacy. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to gain real-world experience and put our knowledge into practice. And then, we get to take the final state examinations. It covers a wide range of topics, ensuring that we have a comprehensive understanding of the field.
Overall, the program provides students with a comprehensive education in pharmacy, covering topics ranging from chemistry and biology to clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical care.
