As a medical student in Bulgaria, you can expect to have a busy schedule. You will engage in different learning activities. This means that you'll need to be able to balance your time.
Typical daily routine as a medical student in Bulgaria
- Starting around 8:00 am: you attend lectures.
- Around noon: you take a break for lunch for 1-2 hours
- In the afternoon: you either attend lectures or laboratory sessions
- In the evening: you study and complete coursework in the evenings. This includes reading textbooks, reviewing lecture notes, and completing assignments.
Time management is crucial.
Studying (for exams) 📚
As a medical student, you'll be required to learn a large amount of complex information, ranging from anatomy and physiology to pharmacology and pathology. To succeed in your studies, you'll need to develop effective study habits and strategies that work for you.
Don't forget to take care of yourself. Studying for exams can be stressful. It's important that you exercise, eat healthy, and spend time with your friends.
Repetition
You review study materials multiple times. This way you reinforce your understanding and improve your retention of the information. This includes
- reading textbooks,
- reviewing lecture notes,
- creating flashcards,
- practising sample questions.
A good study routine
Be strategic about where you study - some prefer the library, others their home and again others cafes & other open spaces. Find your place that you like best.
- Find a rhythm that works for you and stick with it, so it becomes automatic. ⚖️
- Eliminate distractions for intense focus: start by switching the phone off and kee--p it out of sight. 📵
- Schedule guilt-free downtime each week to recharge your batteries. 🔋
- Think about the fuel you're putting into your body - meals, snacks, how you use caffeine. ☕
- Get plenty of sleep each night. 🌛
- Take breaks throughout the day: at least 10 minutes per hour for most tasks
- Look after your mind and body by getting some exercise, and consider meditating to boost your focus and concentration further. 🧘🏼♂️
It's important to keep in mind that each student has their own unique learning style. It's worth trying out a variety of study tools and techniques to find what works best for you.
